De letter "G" van de motor uit de XG-serie verwijst naar de "Glow-type" motor. Bekend als elektrisch verwarmde motor.
De gloeibougie speelt een cruciale rol bij het garanderen van een soepele werking van de motor door de nodige energie te leveren om het mengsel van benzine en lucht te ontsteken via weerstandsdraadverwarming. Deze ontstekingsmethode onderscheidt de motor van gewone benzinemotoren (bougieontsteking), waardoor hij duidelijke voordelen krijgt op het gebied van prestaties en eigenschappen.
